This course will explore both evidence based and traditional use of botanical medicine in the perinatal period.

Day one: will provide an introduction to botanical medicine including botany, pharmacognosy, types of herbal preparations and safe therapeutic dosages.

Day two: will review the safety and most current evidence of using botanical medicine in pregnancy. This day it will also be provided effective clinically based protocols for the treatment of common complaints in the perinatal period from Dr. Mary Bove, a leading expert in this field.

Day three: Dr. Bove, will explore advanced obstetrical botanical therapeutics and the treatment of peri-natal complications.

Dr. Bove will show you how to educate parents on giving herbs and improving compliance with children taking herbal medicines; as well as, a family herbal pharmacy including kitchen medicines and first aid for home care. A Pediatric Materia Medica with monographs for the most common pediatric herbs used will be included.
